In English, there are many rules for using capital letters. Here are ten important ones.
1) The first word in a sentence (e.g. The trees are green.)
2) The pronoun "I" alone (e.g. My family and I went to Parangtritis Beach last week)
3) Names of people and their title (e.g. He admires President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono)
4) Nationalities, languages, religions, and ethnic groups (e.g. English, Moslem, Javanese)
5) Specific places you could find on a map (e.g. Lake Toba, West Java, Gejayan Street)
6) Names of specific structures such as buildings, roads, and bridges (e.g. Ambarukmo Plaza)
7) Names of specific organizations such as businesses, schools, and clubs (e.g. Star Club)
8) Names of the days, months, holidays, and speical time periods (e.g. Ramadan, Sunday)
9) Geographic areas (e.g. Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe)
10) Titles of books, magazines, newspapers, movies, and TV series (e.g. National Geographic)
(Pay attention to the following rules and, more importantly, apply them correctly in your own writing).
